11/15 – The co-founder of the Turck Group has died unexpectedly at the age of 82
Mülheim, April 30, 2015Werner Turck, co-founder of the Turck Group, died unexpectedly on April 25, 2015, at the age of 82. The company has lost a unique personality who has left a lasting influence on the development of industrial electronics. Over the past 50 years, this farsighted entrepreneur, with a distinctive flair for market oriented innovation, led the Turck Group to becoming a successful company worldwide with over 3,500 employees. Only last December, Werner Turck was awarded with the Order of Merit First Class of the Federal Republic for his entrepreneurship and his many decades of voluntary work in the local community.
Werner Turck was born in 1932 in Tarnowo, Poland, from where in 1945 he moved to Halver – the former home town of his grandparents. Only two years after completing his studies in electrical engineering, he took over the management of Lumberg KG in Schalksmühle, which he retained up to 1980. He founded Turck at the same time in 1965, and produced the first sensors in the living room of his home.
Employees and fellow human beings were always the central focus of his activities. His open and caring nature not only left its mark on the corporate culture of the Turck Group. It was also in the environment around the production and development sites at Halver and Beierfeld where Werner Turck offered tremendous support in social and community projects. He was awarded an honorary citizenship for his work in both towns.
